1. WHAT IS AVPA?
AVPA opened its doors to students in 1995 with the collaboration
of its major partner Sony Pictures Entertainment. We currently
support 20 productions and over 30 classes a year spread
across all five majors. With Sony's partnership model
the Academy has been able to add other sponsors such as
Playa Vista, UCLA, West Los Angeles College, The Center
Theatre Group, The Evidence Room Theatre, Panavision and
MGM. Our current enrollment is 165 full time students
(40 Film Majors, 50 Theatre Majors, 40 Art Majors, 25
Music Majors, and 10 Dance Majors). We also have students
who minor in their field and also those who simply take
individual classes in an area of interest. Graduates go
on to study at places like NYU, USC, UCLA, Cal Arts, Otis
School of Design, and Art Center. The staff currently
numbers 25, most of whom are working professionals in
their field.
2. WHAT IS THE MAIN GOAL OF AVPA?
AVPA is committed to providing students a high quality arts
education via classroom and hands-on production experience,
so that they may be literate in the arts with the ability
and opportunity to purse future study.
