General auditions and interviews for the AVPA Department of Music (Pink Elephant Music Company) will take place Sept 8-18, as scheduled with Dr. Spano and Ms. Michel.
Returning and New students in instrumental music: prepare a short excerpt of music that best demonstrates your technical and musical abilities (from a solo, etude, ensemble piece, etc.). You will be asked to perform major and minor scales (please prepare scales in keys of: Bb, Eb, and F major, and A, G and C minor – not concert pitch, but in the written pitch for your instrument). Interview will take place along with the music audition.
Returning and New students in vocal music:
1. Vocal Auditions: Monday, Sept 14, 3:15 pm, room 94. All vocalists wishing to audition for AVPA Music Department must attend this audition. Please note: this is for all AVPA students who wish to become a member of the music company and for featured vocalists positions with all ensembles and productions, including Cabaret Night. Please prepare a short excerpt (32 bars preferred) of a standard musical theatre or classical work. Accompanist may not be provided – you may bring one if you’d like (live or recorded).
2. Chamber Singers auditions are Tuesday, Sept 15, 3:15 pm, in room 94. Do not prepare any music. An excerpt will be taught to those auditioning. This audition is for all singers interested in joining Chamber Singers, separate from the Monday vocal audition.
Interviews for vocal majors will be scheduled separately from the audition on Monday. Please schedule an interview time with Dr. Spano.
Please visit Dr. Spano in Room 94 beginning the first day of school to schedule an audition and/or interview. A list of available times will be posted there.
