Synopsis :

"The Art of Sound Composition" at the UCLA Hammer Museum and UCLA Extension taught by composer and electric bassist Mark London Sims

AVPA art students: Erica, Daniel, Michele, and Lucia participate in a unique workshop series that combines art and music into one. Their final performance was held Saturday, June 28th at the UCLA Hammer Museum inside Gallery 6. The workshop series is in conjunction with artist,
Christian Marclay. Christian Marclay is an artist and DJ who examines the relationship between sound and vision. Marclay's art focuses our attention on the audible qualities of sound, as well as on the way it is experienced, visualized, and translated into other forms.

Participants were able to:
"Listen" to music from around the world and attend Christian Marclay's DJ concert
"Create" music with their own and/or handmade instruments, voice, and sound they recorded and edited
"Document" their music with wide-ranging materials and create works of visual art
"Look" at the art in the Hammer's Christian Marclay's exhibition "Show and Perform" the work they created
"Talk with the Artist" a personal tour and discussion
