Quotes from the Students :

"As an apprentice at the Museum of Contemporary Art in downtown Los Angeles, I was able to take advantage of a wide range of art related opportunities. Whether simply working in the library, or at art talks to gain behind the scenes museum work experience or exploring exhibitions with the artists themselves. These experiences have been invaluable to raising my interest, understanding and appreciation for all forms of art as well as giving me a clearer idea of what kind of art related careers are available."

"LACMA is an amazing experience. I had the opportunity to work with students from other high schools and also with artists and educators who were dedicated to our learning and working experiences. We toured elementary through high school students and talked to people in different museum departments. I loved it!"

"Working at LACMA was a once in a lifetime opportunity. Our main responsibility included touring students from grades 3-12. As we prepared for the tour, I learned so many valuable skills. I learned how to relate to children and make the artwork appeal to them more. I learned how to speak in front of a group of people and helped them to interact as well. I not only prepared student tours, but learned more about the operations of the museum, too. I met staff members from various departments from LACMA. To help broaden our perspectives on art, we also met artists and went on field trips to different museums."

" The LACMA Internship Program is fantastic. The program allows high school students to become familiar with the way a major art museum runs and operates. Exploring the galleries as well as the unseen departments of the museum, interns get a sense of what it's like to work at LACMA. Meetings first consist of gallery activities and projects relating to the topic of the exhibition that will be toured by the interns. We are trained for the tours by the education department, becoming familiar with the material and artwork of the exhibition. We practice speaking in front of groups to prepare for the tours that will be given in the Spring. Second semester, we are creating art projects and working with professional artists, learning new techniques and skills. We also visit other museums in the area. The LACMA internship not only familiarizes students with the museum world, it also sparks personal growth."
